Synthetic Aperture has updated its video previewing toolkit Echo Fire to support AJA Video Systems Inc.’s Io, an uncompressed FireWire video interface.
Echo Fire enables video editors and others to preview video using Adobe After Effects and Photoshop. It also provides previews of the desktop, including any graphics programs that may be running — images copied to the Clipboard in Mac OS X can also be previewed. Echo Fire can overlay previews with a waveform monitor or vectorscope display, as well.
AJA’s Io interface is the latest video output method supported by Echo Fire; the software already supports output through DV and FireWire; AJA Kona, Digital Voodoo, Blackmagic Design DeckLink; Media 100, and Aurora Video Systems’ Igniter and Fuse products.
Echo Fire requires Mac OS X v10.2 or later, or Mac OS 8.6 or later and QuickTime 4.2 or later. It’s compatible with Adobe After Effects v5.0 and later and Adobe Photoshop v5.0 and later.
Echo Fire v2.1.4 is available for US$275. The update is free for registered Echo Fire 2.x users. A 72-hour demo is available for download.
