Ambrosia Software Inc. has updated its Snapz Pro X screen capture utility software. The new version improves compatibility with certain applications and Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther,” as well as other changes.
With Snapz Pro X, Mac OS X users can capture screenshots, images of menus, windows and other objects, as well as full-blown QuickTime movies showing their applications in operation.
The new version of Snapz Pro sports a different method of pausing processes that offers enhanced compatibility with applications including iTunes 4.x, recent Macromedia releases and others. Internet version checking has been added, too, so users will be advised of future updates.
What’s more, Ambrosia Software has done regression testing with Snapz Pro X and Panther, and “fixed a few minor issues” so that it works properly. The software has also been recompiled using gcc 3.3, which Ambrosia Software claims will provide “a little performance boost.” Several other minor issues have also been corrected.
In related news, Ambrosia Software noted that it’s working on Snapz Pro v2.0, a major update. The new version’s main improvement will be an increase to video capture performance, and Ambrosia said it’s had “amazing results so far.” The company has posted details on its discussion forums.
Ambrosia Software also reminds users who have a copy of Snapz Pro bundled on their Macs that the bundle deal “is between Apple and their customers.” Customers who want the latest update can purchased a full registered copy at a reduced rate.
