Mac peripheral maker
Griffin Technology Inc.
on Friday announced a redesigned PowerPod. The PowerPod is Griffin’s solution for iPod users that want to charge their players while they’re on the road — it plugs into 12v cigarette lighter adapters or accessory power plugs on automobiles.
The redesigned PowerPod features a 48-inch FireWire cable. Because the charger and the cable are separate from each other, the PowerPod works with all iPods: Users of the latest generation of iPods are instructed to plug their Dock Connector to FireWire Cable that’s included with the iPod itself.
The device sports a status LED that tells you when it’s powered, and has on-board filtering and an in-line fuse to protect the iPod if there’s an electrical surge.
Griffin is shipping the PowerPod now; it carries a suggested retail price of US$24.99.
