The “only Power Mac G5 in the country” toured Australia “like a rock star” this past week, making a round of in-store appearances in Brisbane, according to the Courier-Mail.
“Eager users thronged to the Brisbane events to see and touch the dual-2GHz prototype model for themselves, as proof that yes, it really does exist,” the newspaper reports. “The G5 finally started shipping in the US this week, and Down Under resellers are expecting stock by the end of the month.”
Also in Brisbane this week was Tony King, the new managing director of Apple Computer Australia. He was in town to officially open the new-look AppleCentre New Farm, which along with the Woolloongabba and Sunnybank stores is now under the management of the Mac1 chain, the Courier-Mail reports.
