Ranchero Software has updated NetNewsWire, its RSS Web newsreader for Mac OS X. The new version is ready for download from Ranchero Software’s Web site now.
With NetNewsWire, you can fetch and display news from thousands of Web sites — including MacCentral. The software uses a three-paned interface that’s familiar to users of Apple’s own Mail software, Microsoft Outlook Express and other similar applications, with a list of sites, headlines and navigation buttons. You can customize NetNewsWire’s appearance, use built-in search tools and more.
NetNewsWire v1.0.4’s major feature enhancement is the use of Web Kit — the Safari HTML Renderer — for HTML display. Custom style sheets are supported, and you can now display differences in updated items. Performance boosts have been gained, TypePad is now supported for Weblog editing, and GZIP compression support has been added.
NetNewsWire costs US$39.95 to register for a single-user license. Multi-user licensing is available as well — visit the Web site for details.
