Vivendi Universal is now shipping Imaginext Pirate Raider on hybrid CD-ROM for Mac and Windows. The game is aimed at kids ages five and up looking for high seas adventures based on the Fisher-Price Imaginext playset toys.
Imaginext Pirate Raider includes 26 different missions in which kids captain a pirate ship. Player steer clear of hazards like storms, whirlpools and sea monsters as they take on a series of progressively more difficult challenges: Defeating enemy ships, building and capturing island fortresses, collecting treasure, obtaining extra crew. Each game features a unique map, and the locations of treasure and enemies change from game to game.
Players can upgrade their ships with their loot, too, adding sails and weapons, improving armor, even getting a new ship all together. And while there’s plenty of action, there’s no violence and no destruction — so the game is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.
Players work to earn titles, gradually getting accolades as they seek to become Sea King, Treasure king and Fort King. As they complete all missions, gamers are crowned the Pirate King.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.1.5 or higher or Mac OS 9.2.1 or higher (and it runs natively in Mac OS X, no Classic needed); a G3/300MHz or faster, 64MB RAM, 24x CD-ROM, 16-bit color and 800×600 pixel resolution.
The game also includes an Imaginext action figure that can be used with the Pirate Raider playset available for sale in toy stores. Look for it now for a suggested retail price of US$19.99.
