Intelli Innovations Inc. has released two new USB barcode readers: the IntelliScanner 3200i and 4200i. They’re compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 8.6-9.x.
Both IntelliScanners can be used on any Mac by plugging them into a USB port and scanning a barcode; no drivers are required. The 3200i and 4200i work with any Mac application capable of accepting regular text input, such as FileMaker Pro, AppleWorks and Microsoft Office.
The barcode readers sport the iConfig reader configuration system that allows users to configure the scanner by reading tagged barcodes from the included documentation. Custom settings are stored in the scanners’ nonvolatile memory chips, so you can unplug and transport them without data loss.
The IntelliScanner’s integrated, error-checking decoder only validates and inputs barcodes that are scanned and verified accurate. The 3200i and 4200i have customizable, audible/visual scan indicators.
There’s barcode symbology support for Bookland EANs (ISBNs on the backs of books), EAN-8, EAN-13, JAN-8, JAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, and Codabar. The barcode scanners come with software for inventory tracking and creating and printing barcoded product and book label graphics. Additionally, there’s a configuration mode for triggering Apple command keys to open new dialogs or execute FileMaker scripts.
The IntelliScanner 3200i costs US$279.95; the IntelliScanner 4200i is priced at $399.95.
