Apple on Friday released an update to its professional-level video editing software, Final Cut Pro. The new version, 4.0.2, is available for download through the Software Update system preferences pane.
Apple strongly recommends the update for all users who are working with devices that support DV or Panasonic’s DVCPRO50 format. The DVCPRO50 codec is preferred by some video professionals as it applies less compression and uses a method of color sampling that yields higher fidelity than DV.
According to Apple, the v4.0.2 update resolves an issue that could cause certain Final Cut Pro configurations to generate repeated frames during Edit to Tape operations.
