Memory and storage product maker Trans Intl. on Thursday announced the availability of a 1GB memory expansion module for Apple’s 17-inch iMac flat panel model.
The 1GB DDR266 memory module can be installed in the user slot and the factory slot of the iMac. Trans Intl. explained that its module doubles the memory density of those slots — before this kit became available, each expansion slot of the 17-inch iMac was limited to 512MB, according to the company.
Trans Intl., which is a member of the Apple Developer Group, said that its new 1GB memory modules conform to electrical and mechanical design guidelines provided by Apple. The 1GB DDR266 module operates at 133MHz and transmits data at 266Mbps.
More information about pricing and availability is available from the Web site. As MacCentral posted this article, Trans Intl. listed the price of the user slot module at US$499 and the factory slot module at $219, but memory prices often fluctuate — visit the Trans Intl. site for the latest information.
In related news, Trans Intl. recently released 1GB memory modules for Apple’s 17-inch and 12-inch PowerBook G4s.
