Stick Software on Friday released Jiggler v1.0, a new application designed to help keep your Mac from drifting inadvertently into its Sleep mode.
The Energy Saver system preference pane lets Mac users adjust the amount of idle time allowed before the Mac drops into an energy-saving mode that causes the hard disk to spin down. That can get in the way of certain processes or activities that take longer than that setting is configured for.
Jiggler works around this problem by “jiggling” the cursor periodically to trick the Mac into thinking there’s activity. That way, users don’t have to reconfigure Energy Saver. You can configure the frequency of jiggling, and you can quit the application when its services aren’t needed.
Jiggler as offered as freeware.
