Apple on Monday released a new version of Java for Mac OS X. The new version, Java 1.4.1 Update 1, is available for download through the Software Update system preference pane.
Java 1.4.1 for Mac OS X uses the latest certified release of the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition. The OS X release integrates Java with key technologies of Mac OS X and incorporates more than 60 percent more features than the previous release.
The new version available for download provides improved Java applet support for Java and other Web browsers that support the Java Internet Plug-In, according to Apple. Drawing correctness and performance have been improved. Changes to Java 1.3.1 have been made to provide support for Oracle11i client applications running on Mac OS X, and stability, memory usage and correctness have all been improved as well.
