Boris FX on Thursday announced that Boris Red 3GL — a tool for editors who require broadcast-quality features for titling, effects, compositing and 3D directly inside their nonlinear editing systems — will be available on Sept. 17.
The application offers 2D and 3D compositing, software DVE technology, 3D modeling and animation, native vector titling, motion tracking, vector paint, rotoscoping and Adobe Illustrator file animation and extrusion. It’s available in both plug-in and standalone versions (with video-out preview capabilities available in the standalone Boris Red Engine). It supports OpenGL hardware acceleration and is compatible with Final Cut Pro and nonlinear editors from Adobe, Avid and others.
Red 3GL is priced at US$1,595; owners of previous versions of Boris Red products can update for $295. And if you own Boris FX, Graffiti, Calligraphy or Continuum Complete, you can upgrade to Red 3GL for $799 until Oct. 31.
