Elgato on Monday announced that it will use this week’s occasion of Apple Expo 2003 in Paris, France to roll out an update to the software for its digital video recording (DVR) device for Mac OS X: The EyeTV. EyeTV is a USB-based device that connects to your cable or television antenna and enables you to record programming directly to your hard disk. It also works with camcorders, VHS VCRs, and other analog video sources.
The new version of the EyeTV software will include integration with Roxio Inc.’s Toast 6 Titanium, the recently released new version of the popular Mac CD and DVD burning software. The new version offers what Elgato bills as “seamless integration” with Toast 6 Titanium.
What’s more, EyeTV’s new software release will also add support for the TVTV program guide from FAST TV Server AG, for the first time making it possible for EyeTV users in Europe to easily find and record programs by using an online guide. Up until now, the EyeTV program guide information has been available solely for users in the United States.
Elgato plans to make the software available for free download from its Web site beginning Tuesday, September 16. Attendees of Apple Expo 2003 are encouraged to visit Elgato’s location at booth B19, where they’ll find demonstrations and special show offers.
