Wacom Technology Co. on Monday announced a reduction in the price of its Intuos2 Platinum 6×8 professional pen tablet from US$349 to $299. The features and bundled software of the device remain the same despite the lower price.
Aimed at artists, graphics designers and others who are comfortable with pens instead of mice, the Intuos2 features a 6×8 work area and a cordless, battery-free stylus that sports 1,024 levels of pen tip and eraser pressure sensitivity — twice that of the Wacom’s recently introduced Graphire3.
The Intuos2 includes a cushioned grip pen, and also comes with a three-button (including scrollwheel) equipped mouse that works on the same principle as the stylus. It features 2,540DPI resolution — higher precision than most mechanical or optical mice.
The Intuos2 comes bundled with Adobe Photoshop Elements v2.0, Painter Classic by Corel, penPalette by nik multimedia and Wacom Brushes v1.0.
System requirements call for a USB-equipped Mac, Mac OS X v10.1.5 or higher or Mac OS 9 or higher.
