By month’s end, LaCie will begin shipping a new line of mobile hard drives designed by F.A. Porsche and holding up to 80GB of data. The company has also announced a new ultra-portable DVD±RW drive by the same designer.
The Mobile Hard Drives range in capacity from 20GB to 80GB and in price from US$129 to $349. You can choose between USB 2.0 or FireWire versions. Either way, you don’t need to install drivers to use them with Mac OS X.
Also due before the end of September is the new DVD±RW drive that combines four DVD formats in a device that comes equipped with FireWire or USB 2.0 connectivity. The drive also comes with a software suite that includes CaptyDVD for Mac for creating interactive video DVDs. The cost is $349 for the USB 2.0 version and $369 for the FireWire edition.
LaCie first introduced storage peripherals designed by the Porsche team over a year ago.
