Newer Technology Inc. has noted its new line of NuPower PowerBook batteries. The company’s line includes replacement Li-Ion batteries for PowerBook G3s and G4s, with, in some cases, substantially more charge capacity than factory-standard models.
The new batteries are available in different forms for Wallstreet, Lombard (“Bronze keyboard) and Pismo (“FireWire PowerBook”)-era PowerBook G3s. Capacities on those models range from 12.5 percent to 25 percent higher than the original Apple batteries, according to Apple. Prices range from US$139.99 to $149.99 depending on model.
Also available are NuPower 65 Watt Hour Lithium-Ion batteries for all Titanium-clad 15-inch PowerBook G4s, ranging in clock speed from 400MHz – 1GHz. Newer reports that the new batteries offer 30 percent more capacity than the batteries that came with G4/400 and 500MHz models; 17.5 percent more capacity than 550, 667 and 800MHz models, and 6 percent more capacity than the batteries included with 867MHz and 1GHz 15-inch PowerBook G4s as well.
