Sony has released two new Mac compatible LCD (liquid crystal display) displays: the 17-inch SDM-HX73 and 19-inch SDM-HX93. Due before the end of the month, they’ll cost US$620 and $1,000, respectively.
The new displays sport an 800:1 contrast ratio on the 19-inch display and 500:1 on the 17-inch. The SDM-HX73 and SDM-HX93 both offer 1280 x 1024 native resolutions and brightness levels of 450 candelas per meter squared. Both monitors — which will be available in either a metallic gray or matte black — include one-touch adjustable performance settings for tweaking the displays for general computing, watching movies or playing games. Chrome buttons for toggling between the customized settings and adjusting panel settings are mounted on the side of the displays.
The SDM-HX73 and SDM-HX93 both come with Sony’s ErgoBright technology, which automatically adjusts brightness as ambient lighting conditions change — brighter by day and softer by night. The displays tout internal power supplies and integrated stereo speakers that are powered by SRS WOW audio technology. Both are equipped with digital and analog connections.
