All teachers and seventh graders in Carroll, Iowa, will receive an Apple laptop before the end of October if all goes according to plans. On Monday, the Carroll School Board approved a four-year lease agreement with Apple to provide iBooks, according to
an IowaChannel article.
The school district will lease 135 computers from Apple for US$165,000 with funds coming from equipment levy funds, the article adds. Students will be able to carry the iBooks home. However, school officials will meet with parents before the laptops are handed out to discuss the rules and policies of the program.
The Macs will be equipped with password protection to help prevent students from using the laptops for recreational purposes, IowaChannel reports.
