Informatix Software International Ltd.
is using the occasion of this week’s Apple Expo 2003 in Paris, France to release the Mac OS X version of Piranesi. Piranesi is billed as a “3D painting” application, designed to produce hand-drawn effects on 3D models.
Piranesi supports 3DS and DXF file formats; what’s more, applications like Art*lantis, formZ and LightWave 3D have direct interfaces for Piranesi.
The Mac OS X release of Piranesi incorporates features not found in its Windows-based counterpart, including new multi-fill styles, automatic contrast adjustments, and improved support for pressure-sensitive pens. The style library has been reworked using Extensible Markup Language (XML). Floating cutouts can be saved into Piranesi EPix file format, as well.
Piranesi for Mac OS X requires Mac OS X v10.2.6 or later, and a G4/400MHz or faster with 256MB RAM is recommended. Informatix anticipates shipping Piranesi in October. Pricing was not immediately available.
