Soundart has released Infiltrator 1.0, a free add-on for the company’s Chameleon hardware, a rack-mount 24-bit programmable DSP engine. Infiltrator is principally a vocoder that can recreate classic vocoder architectures, but it can also be anything from a DJ performance filter to a multiband compressor and stereo EQ.
It includes two 24-channel filter banks (up to 2/4/6/8 pole) with 11 filter types; a reconfigurable architecture; multiple compressors, expanders and gates with lookahead; built-in MIDI synth with twin oscillators and noise generation; ring mod and FM synthesis; eight sets of three assignable real-time controllers; and three LFOs for real-time controls. Chameleon provides realtime control of all filterbanks; three LFOs for controlling the realtime controls to create special effects; different editing levels; extensive metering and monitoring of internal signals; internal storage of 99 user programs, with over 55 factory set-ups; dynamic allocation of DSP resources, allowing different configurations; and more.
Infiltrator 1.0 is available now as a free download for Chameleon users. It’s compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.x.
