Mumbo Jumbo on Tuesday announced plans to publish Activision Anthology: Remix Edition for the PC. Sources at United Developers have also confirmed plans to publish the game for the Mac as well.
Aimed at retro game enthusiasts and “old school” gamers of a certain age, Activision Anthology: Remix Edition includes more than 75 games originally published for the Atari 2600 video game console in the 1980s. Games in the anthology include Barnstorming, Chopper Command, Freeway, Megamania and others.
The anthology lets players play in “Classic” mode, just like the original games; they can also play 15 different unlockable and enhanced gameplay modes. The game even features an interface that emulates “the setting of a teenager’s bedroom from the ’80s,” complete with a cartridge rack you can use to select your games.
What’s more, Activision Anthology: Remix Edition includes original 1980’s music, everything from Fresh Prince to Flock of Seagulls, Alan Parsons Project and more.
Activision Anthology: Remix Edition is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and has a suggested retail price of US$29.99. The PC version will ship in early October; sources indicate that the Mac version will ship at some point after that. Expect to see a press release from United Developers LLC when the Mac version is formally announced.
