Digital asset management software developer Canto Software Inc. has released a personal, single-user version of its software called myCumulus. It’s available for online purchase and download from Canto’s e-store for US$19.95. What’s more, the company has reduced the price of its professional-grade single user Cumulus software by $20 to $69.95.
MyCumulus is aimed at home users who want to organize digital media like photos, graphics, MP3s and other documents using one software program. It can manage two catalogs simultaneously with up to 2000 assets each. In fact, myCumulus offers the same features as the single user professional version of Cumulus, but provides tracking for a smaller number of media assets than that pro version.
Sharron Sawyer, Canto’s Vice President of Marketing, noted that digital asset management was once relegated to companies. “Now, with a broader use of digitalhome technologies, people are having trouble finding their private files ontheir computers,” Sawyer added.
Canto noted that support isn’t available for myCumulus, but the company does offer an upgrade path to the single user full version for $49.95. It’s available for Mac OS 8.6 – 9.x and various flavors of Windows.
Canto announced at Apple Expo 2003 in Paris earlier this month that it will bring out a Mac OS X-native version of Canto Single User Edition of Cumulus in November — no word yet on if or when myCumulus will get the OS X treatment.
