The October meeting of the Boston Final Cut Pro User Group (BOSFCPUG) happens Thursday, October 2, 2003 at their old haunts at Boston University’s COMM 101 Hall. The presentation will feature DVD Studio Pro 2.0 and the new Power Mac G5.
The event happens from 7 – 10PM, but the doors open at 6:15PM. COMM 101 Hall is located at Boston University’s College of Communications, at 684 Commonwealth Ave. in Boston, Mass. Attendees are asked to register online, although attendance is free (a US$5 donation is requested if you plan to participate in the regular “Big Dig” raffle). Thursday’s meeting will feature Michael Oh of Tech Superpowers Inc., who will show off two Power Mac G5s. Tech Superpowers will also be offering special user group discounts on the G5 during the meeting.
“Stump the FCP Gurus” will feature BOSFCPUG regulars Loren Miller, Chi Ho Lee, Charles Roberts, Jeff Warmouth, Josh Wachs and others. The DVD Studio Pro 2.0 Overview ill get underway, featuring DVDSP expert Jeff Warmouth. Warmouth, the author of a forthcoming book on DVD Studio Pro 2.0, will show off new features in the revised DVD mastering software.
Charlie Roberts will then take the floor to show off “Cool Edits with FCP 4.” Then it’s Don Berube of noisybrain’s turn with “Using the Firestore FS-3 with FCP 4.” The “FCP In Action” segment will feature excerpts from J.C. Bouvier and excerpts from Boston local Sean Cocoran’s “Sundown,” a feature filmed in HD format and edited on Final Cut Pro. CustomFlix’s Sean Sanders will also announce new BOSFCPUG specials and to discuss “DVD Distribution Made Easy.”
The night wraps up with the FCP Q&A and the Big Dig Raffle, which will this month feature a FireStore recorder, $499 Pro Transfer Coupon, CustomFlix Publishing Kits, and more.
