Information Appliance Associates has released PocketMac 3.0, a major new release of its Pocket PC-to-Mac synchronization software. The new version provides support for Bluetooth, e-mail synchronization, third-party software installation and other new features.
With PocketMac, Mac users can synchronize data on their PDAs that operate the Pocket PC operating system from Microsoft — devices like the Compaq iPAQ, Hewlett Packard Jornada and others. Left on their own, these devices don’t have any integrated Mac connectivity.
PocketMac 3.0 adds the ability for Bluetooth enabled Pocket PC PDAs and Macs to communicate with each other, and also enhances support for contact, calendar and task synchronization with Entourage, iCal and Address Book. E-mail synchronization with Apple Mail has also been added, as has support for iSync and iPhoto.
A new PocketMac Theme can also be installed that gives Pocket PC PDAs a more Mac-like look and feel, and support has also been added for Pocket PC 2003 Edition. You can now use PocketMac to install Pocket PC software regardless of whether it’s an .EXE or .CAB file. The new version also features built-in support for Avantgo and Mazingo. Lots of other features have been added, too.
PocketMac 3.0 costs US$41.77. More details are available from the Web site.
