Aspyr Media has announced that its PC and Mac conversion of Wakeboarding Unleashed Featuring Shaun Murray has hit its Beta development milestone. Aspyr anticipates releasing the game in December, 2003.
The latest extreme sports game that Aspyr Media has licensed from Activision, Wakeboarding Unleashed Featuring Shaun Murray puts you on a tow-line behind a speedboat, ripping around nine different exotic locations as you pull off high-speed technical tricks. What’s more, you can drive as your friend wakeboards in a special multiplayer cooperative mode.
Aspyr initially let it slip that it was developing PC and Mac versions of the game when it announced plans to publish a Game Boy Advance version of the console title in early September. This is the first official status update about those forthcoming Mac and PC releases, however.
Aspyr noted that the game is presently in development at the studios of Beenox Software, a developer of original game content and game conversions with whom Aspyr has previously collaborated on some of its Tony Hawk conversions as well. As with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, Wakeboarding Unleashed Featuring Shaun Murray is being simultaneously developed for both Mac and Windows platforms, according to Glenda Adams, Aspyr’s director of PC and Mac development.
“… it’s an incredibly fun game with easy to pick up controls and some of the most beautiful graphics effects I’ve seen,” said Adams.
The game is currently available for pre-order from Aspyr’s Web site for US$29.99. It’s rated E for Everyone by the ESRB. Preliminary system requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.3 or later; G4/700MHz or faster processor (or iBook with 32MB VRAM); 256MB RAM; 520MB hard drive; ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce2 MX or better graphics accelerator with 32MB VRAM).
