DEVONtechnologies on Wednesday announced the release of its DEVONagent 1.0. DEVONagent is billed as an intelligent search agent and alternative browser for Mac OS X users.
DEVONagent uses different searching techniques and collects the results from major search engines. Then DEVONagent visits the Web sites, downloads, analyzes and weights the results to find most relevant pages. The final results re presented in a plain list, sorted by decreasing relevance.
DEVONagent has been in public beta testing for a while. The final release now sports new Mac OS X services for starting queries, and opens a selected URL in the internal Web browser. Dock menu commends directly open new browsers, query or crawler windows. Multiple results can be dragged to DEVONthink (if it’s installed). Other changes have been made as well.
A downloadable demo is available from the Web site; it runs for 60 hours before requiring a US$35 registration. DEVONtechnologies also offers it bundled with DEVONthink PE for $60.
