RealeStudios LLC has released RealeWriter, a new “personal publishing application” for Mac OS X and “Classic” Mac OS (as well as for Windows).
The software lets users create picture books and print them in several formats, or save them as interactive Web sites. RealeWriter was developed by literacy experts to help teach people to read and compose their own picture books.
A Contact Sheet and Image Organizer helps users manage their digital images, while the StoryBoard tool arranges stories. Composer is used to overlay images and text together, and a built-in image editor can help users tweak pictures for display. RealeWriter supports the Unicode standard, as well.
Output is handled in four different booklet formats or as Web sites, and images and book planning documents can also be printed separately. RealeStudios also makes available a “RealeReader” application to enable the books to be distributed electronically.
RealeWriter is $29.95 for a single user license. Lab and school site licenses are also available.
