Exabyte Corp. has released the VXA-2 PacketLoader 1×10 1U, a rack-mountable, automated backup and restore product that provides up to 1.6TB of capacity via 10 cartridges with up to 160GB of capacity each.
The US$2,500 VXA-2 PacketLoader is targeted to small and medium sized organizations. It provides a transfer speed of up to 43.2GB per hour and offers a midrange feature set that includes a barcode reader, random library operation and optional remote management. And the 1u autoloader boasts field-replaceable drives, which means you can upgrade to future generations of VXA drives without buying a whole new box.
The VXA-2 PacketLoader 1×10 1U uses VXA Packet Technology, which Exabyte says has been “extreme” tested to provide 100 percent data restore. VXA Packet Drives are also available in the company’s autoloaders and 430 library.
