Avid Technology Inc. has released the Avid DS Nitris and Avid DS Nitris Editor, finishing systems that deliver real-time effects and color correction with two streams of uncompressed 10-bit HD media and eight streams of 10-bit uncompressed SD media. Both work with the Mac compatible Avid Xpress Pro, as well as other software.
The Avid DS Nitris family supports a range of formats, from compressed SD to 2K, and delivers a set of video and audio editing capabilities. The products support a variety of input/output (I/O) capabilities, including SDI and HD-SDI digital video and eight channels of digital audio at 24-bit 96 kHz.
Pricing is US$78,995 for the Avid DS Nitris Editor system and $145,000 for the Avid DS Nitris system. For existing Avid|DS HD customers, hardware upgrades to the Avid DS Nitris system are $35,000.
Avid Xpress Pro is Avid’s professional solution for nonlinear editing (NLE) using either Digital Video (DV) or analog source material. The software features “Film Composer,” which provides 24p film editing capabilities and support for Panasonic’s AG-DVX100 24p camera. Offline format support includes 15:1s, 35:1p, 28:1p and 14:1p. It has a suggested retail price of $1,695.
