Miglia Technology has released the Alchemy TV card that lets you watch TV in full screen mode and listen to FM radio on a Power Mac. Sporting a Philips tuner and QuickTime support, you can also record television programs to your hard drive in various formats such as MPEG-4 and Motion-JPEG.
The US$109 AlchemyTV card comes with software created by Meilenstein Software GmbH for Mac OS X. The software lets you preview several channels simultaneously. You can capture from any analog device using the composite or S-VHS connectors. Movies can be captured in a variety of formats for editing or writing to CD or DVD. FM broadcasts can also be captured.
AlchemyTV is available in NTSC and PAL/Secam versions. System requirements are a Power Mac G4 with a 400MHz processor or higher (G5 compatibility “will be announced,” according to Miglia), 256MB of RAM and Mac OS X (10.2.4 or higher).
