Canto has announced workgroup and enterprise editions of Cumulus 6, the latest version of the digital asset management system. Both will be released at the end of November with Mac OS X clients will be offered for the first time.
Cumulus 6 incorporates a new central user management system: EJaP technology (Embedded Java PlugIn), which lets customers and, especially, system integrators customize the available out-of-the-box solutions to meet specific needs. New functions can be added and Cumulus 6 can be integrated into any workflow, enterprise portal or enterprise content management-solution, according to Canto.
With Cumulus 6, all assets can be managed and made accessible centrally in one window. What’s more, an extra keyword list and the asset location can be displayed in addition to the categories. You can now switch between different views with preconfigured “View Sets” and display the information relevant to the format or task at hand. Cumulus 6 also offers Asset Handling Sets to optimize the handling of different formats; these preconfigured sets can be edited and provided centrally by the administrator.
Under Mac OS X (and Windows) Cumulus now features a toolbar sporting such functions as Quicksearch. The menu structure has been simplified; now all settings for users, catalogs and sets can be made in one dialog. With Cumulus 6 administrators can centrally manage all Cumulus licenses as well as the View Sets, Asset-Handling Sets, access rights and further settings and profiles.
When Cumulus 6 (Workgroup and Enterprise Edition ) is released, upgrades will be offered for existing installations. Users who participate in the Upgrade Advantage Program will automatically receive the upgrade. For more information, including pricing for new users, go to the Canto Web site.
