Freeverse Software has released a playable demo of its new scrolling arcade shooter Active Lancer, available from Macgamefiles.com. The 95MB demo includes the full game’s first cinematic sequence and three separate game levels, along with multiple tracks from the game’s soundtrack.
A vertical shooter reminiscent of classic arcade games like Super R-Type, Gradius and Xevious, Active Lancer puts you in control of an AK-71V3 Lancer, a flying mechanical exoskeleton. You fly above the surface of an alien world as you try to put an end to the onslaught of alien invaders. You use up to five different weapons to destroy targets on land, air and sea as you recharge and power up your suit.
Developed by Anson Tsai, Active Lancer features a soundtrack created by Andrew “Digital Droo” Tokuda. The game requires Mac OS X or Mac OS 8.6 or later. It’s available for purchase at Freeverse’s online store or at Apple resellers for $19.95.
