SubRosaSoft Ltd. has updated its line of privacy and system utility software for Mac OS X 10.3 (“Panther”), which goes on sale Friday. The company has also released DesktopEarthPro, “a tool to visualize our planet.”
Panther-ready products include: SubRosaSoft DiskGuardian, a collection of tools that alert you of imminent hard drive failure; MailGuardian, software that helps guard your e-mail; HomeGuardian, home security software; ComputerGuardian, a utility that will monitor your computer and attached devices and report its location if the computer is stolen; and CopyCatX, a utility for duplicating a Mac OS X drive.
DesktopEarthPro uses a combination of satellite imagery and calculated data to provide real time views of the entire globe. It also calculates the sunrise, sunset and current solar elevation for any location you choose. Once images are created, they can be automatically set as your desktop picture, saved to archive, or sent via FTP to your Web server. DesktopEarthPro has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of US$14.95. It requires Mac OS X 10.2 or higher — and is also Panther-ready.
