Apple resellers in Australia are miffed over the company’s naming of NCR as a national services provider, claiming they will lose business as a result, according to an ITNews Australia article.
Apple Computer Australia’s channel manager Kevin McElduff, in a letter sent to Apple resellers, said the vendor would “allocate a substantial portion of our professional services on-site warranty business to NCR.” The move would mainly affect mainly regional resellers that offer services for Education department (DET) contracts in Victoria, NSW, QLD and WA, ITNews Australia reports.
The article quotes representatives of such Apple resellers as KNet Technology, NextByte, Northern Technical Services and others saying the move seriously undercuts their business. For example, Vince Cohen of Northern Technical Services said 80 percent of his business is in Apple products and services, “of which a big slice is services and warranty work.”
Apple Computer Australia declined to comment further on its decision. A company spokesperson said it wasn’t prepared to comment on the go-to-market strategy with NCR, according to ITNews Australia.
