iRiver America on Tuesday introduced its iGP-100 MP3 music player. The new device is compatible with Macs and PCs and stores up to 1.5GB of music. It also features an integrated FM tuner and uses USB 2.0 to transfer data.
The iGP-100 also sports a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, one-handed navigation, enhanced 3D sound and the ability to be upgraded to future sound formats. It features an LCD display that shows playtime, artist, song title, battery status, bit rate, file type and equalizer settings. The iGP-100’s storage comes from the Cornice Storage Element, a hard disk drive-like storage product developed by Cornice Inc.
The iGP-100’s sound format support includes MP3, WMA, OGG and ASF formats, though Mac support will depend on what software you use. Notably absent is Dolby Advanced Audio Codec (AAC), supported by iTunes 4.
The iGP-100 comes bundled with earphones, carrying case, AC adapter and USB 2.0 cable. Look for the iGP-100 on store shelves at Best Buy or directly from iRiver’s Web site, for US$249.99.
