Nielsen//NetRatings, a company that does Internet audience measurement and analysis, says that people flocked to Apple’s Web site during the week ending Oct. 19 to download the new iTunes for Windows. Apple unveiled iTunes for Windows and the second generation iTunes Music Store on Oct. 16.
Traffic to the Apple Product Info & Support channel surged 112 percent to more than one million unique visitors, as compared to 479,000 unique visitors during the previous week, Nielsen//NetRatings reports. Traffic from home to the channel jumped 37 percent to 941,000 unique visitors, as compared to 686,000 visitors the week before.
“File sharing in the U.S. is declining, and iTunes is a great example of the type of safe high quality environment that consumers will flock to continuously,” said Greg Bloom, senior Internet analyst, Nielsen//NetRatings.
