Okay, you’ve modified your Power Mac G4 Cube with one of Mac upgrade maker PowerLogix’s PowerCube enclosure, now what to do? The company has announced its PowerForce G4 1.4GHz upgrade, which replaces the Cube’s existing processor.
Based on the new 7457 processor, the new PowerForce 1.4GHz upgrade draws 40 percent less peak power than previous processors. What’s more, it has twice the Level 2 Cache (512K) of previous cards as well. It also incorporates 2MB of Level 3 Cache. Compatible with all Power Mac G4 Cubes, the new PowerForce G4 1.4GHz card uses PowerLogix’s Series 100 card design.
PowerLogix expects that the first production units of its new PowerForce G4 1.4GHz system will begin shipping in 1 – 2 weeks. Suggested retail pricing is US$599.
