dvGarage has released dvMatte Pro 1.5 for Final Cut Pro 4. It’s an update of the software designed to “key,” or remove, blue and greenscreen backgrounds from digital footage.
It’s designed to handle the artifacts created by video cameras. These artifacts are present in beta, HD and, especially DV, video footage, according to dvGarage founder Alex Lindsay. dvMatte uses a 3-pass keying method to achieve clean keys, he added.
dvMatte Pro 1.5 for Final Cut Pro 4 adds several new features to the plug-in, such as Color Matching, Edge Blending and Light Wrap. It doesn’t work with Final Cut Express, though dvGarage is “working on it,” Lindsay told MacCentral. Also, dvMatte Pro 1.5 for After Effects is due before the end of the year.
dvMatte Pro retails for US$199. However, it’s available for an introductory price of $149 through Nov. 11.
