Integration New Media has introduced Impressario, a product designed to let you integrate PDFs into Macromedia Director. Due next month, it’s compatible with Director 8 (or higher; 8.5 is recommended), Mac OS X (10.2.2 or higher) and Mac OS 9.1 (and higher).
With Impressario, you can apply Director’s inks and transparency to your PDF document sprites or place objects on top of them for an integrated look and feel. It’s self-contained; no other application is required. Also, according to Integration New Media, you’ll need no scripting knowledge to use it, as Impressario offers WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) authoring, pre-scripted behaviors, a customizable toolbar and more.
The application preserves your original page layouts and fonts and supports inks, transparency and animation. Plus, you can have multiple PDF documents open simultaneously. Pricing for Impressario hasn’t yet been announced.
