Alexander Wilson Studios
has released Audiobook Studio 3, a major update to its Mac OS X application to help users create digital “audiobooks.” The new version adds support for Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther” and some new features as well.
With Audiobook Studio, users can take any text file and convert them into an audiobook; the software leverages Mac OS X’s built-in text-to-speech capabilities to manage the conversion. Once the audiobook is created, you can distribute it on the Web, drop it into iTunes, or put it on your iPod for later review.
In addition to Panther support, Audiobook Studio 3 gains an improved preview function and new dynamic controls that allow users to insert pauses, speed up or slow down readings and emphasize or deemphasize single words.
Audiobook Studio 3 is US$6 shareware. It requires Mac OS X v10.2 or higher.
