Perforce Software Inc. announced Monday that its Software Configuration Management (SCM) system for Mac OS X developers is now integrated with Xcode, the new development tools available with Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther.”
Designed to help software developers with version control and other related issues, Perforce SCM works on more than 50 operating systems. The Mac version has been developed to support Mac OS X natively. Over the summer, Perforce released its Perforce Visual Client (P4V) for Mac OS X and Linux.
Besides Xcode integration, specific features in this release include check-in and check-out; file comparison via either the built-in Apple Filemerge tool orUNIX diff; file history; and updates to new and old versions. Conflict resolution using diff markers enables developers working on the same file at the same time to resolve conflicts at check-in, according to Perforce.
