FileWave Inc. has updated its flagship software suite FileWave X to version 1.5. With the update, the administrator defines a model configuration only once at a centralized location, and is then able to deploy the configured software to all relevant client computers.
FileWave is a system administration tool designed to help facilitate the distribution and configuration of software from a central server. It can also be used for asset tracking and management, client system monitoring and more.
The Mac OS X release comprises three components, or modules: FileWave XServer, the central server; FileWave XAdmin, used for asset management; and FileWave XClient, the module installed on the end-user’s machine. Each of the new components is designed exclusively for Mac OS X. The software’s network-based software administration tools, including configuration and monitoring, are transparent to the end user.
All modules supplied by FileWave have been certified for Apple’s XServe hardware and also support AirPort technology. Evaluation copies of the application are available from FileWave; you’ll have to contact the company for its pricing options.
