announced Tuesday the release of Optix v6, a document management server system developed for use with Mac OS X v10.3 Server and compatible with Power Mac G5s and Xserves. Optix leverages Sybase’s Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) v12.5.
With a client already available for Mac OS X, this now allows companies to set up an Apple-based document management system from end-to-end, according to Mindwrap. It’s an off-the-shelf system that provides options like Web-based query, viewing and workflow.
Optix workstation software is AppleScriptable, and can be customized with third party software like optical character recognition (OCR). It works with Fujitsu’s line of high-speed document scanners and supports image enhancement, form design and processing, barcode recognition, and other features.
