Sony Electronics has expanded its Micro Vault USB storage media product lineup with four new additions: Micro Vault with Fingerprint Access, Micro Vault with Memory Stick Media Reader/Writer, a smaller Micro Vault and one with increased storage capacity.
The Micro Vault is a USB flash memory storage unit that can be used with machines running Mac OS X 10.0 and higher. However, you’ll need Mac OS X 10.2.6 or higher to take advantage of the fingerprint access features.
The US$139.99 Micro Vault with Fingerprint Access lets you use a fingerprint identification system to replace passwords or IDs for Web site access. It also offers 128MB of storage capacity, a docking station and USB 2.0 connectivity.
The $89.99 Micro Vault with an incorporated Memory Stick media reader/writer lets you move data between the removable Memory Stick media card and the Micro Vault’s 128MB of embedded memory — or directly to a Mac. Sony is also offering a smaller form factor Micro Vault, almost half the size of the original Micro Vault design and equipped with a desktop docking station.
The “Mini” line is available in 128MB and 256MB capacities for $79.99 and $109.99, respectively; they come with a desktop docking station. Additionally, a new 512MB device (not a Mini model) will be offered later this month for $199.99.
