Some users have experienced a problem that causes the application icons in Macromedia’s Studio MX 2004 suite and Contribute 2 to “bounce” in the Dock but never actually launch. Macromedia’s Customer Service site has posted details of the problem and how to fix it.
This issue affects Mac users who have either upgraded to Mac OS X v10.2.8 or Mac OS X v10.3 “Panther,” according to Macromedia, and it involves the use of both the “Archive and Install” or “Erase and Install” functions in the Mac OS X installer. The problem is specific to Macromedia applications that use Activation, according to Macromedia.
“The most common symptom of this issue is that when you click the application icon in the dock, the icon ‘bounces’ as though it is launching, but it does not launch,” said the company.
“To fix this issue, delete the /Library/Preferences/Macrovision folder, restart the application, and reactivate the product. If this does not work, reinstall the product and activate it again. The application should then launch as expected,” said Macromedia.
