German music software developer Native Instruments has announced the release of Battery v1.3, a new version of their drum sampler. Battery v1.3 goes Mac OS X native, and supports new audio interfaces too.
Battery provides users with parameters for up to 54 sample cells, sports 32-bit resolution and up to 128 velocity layers per instrument. It’s compatible with Akai, SF2, LM4, AIFF, WAV and MAP sound libraries, and includes more than 30 soundsets of its own on a second CD.
Battery v1.3 now supports Digidesign’s Real Time Audio Suite (RTAS) format, and in addition to Mac OS X support, it also gains AudioUnit support as well (it already supported VST). As a result, it can operate either as a plug-in or as a standalone application with CoreMIDI and CoreAudio.
Battery carries a suggested retail price of US$199. The 1.3 upgrade is available for $29 to registered users, and is available as a direct download. Users can order an update CD for $49 if they prefer.
