Parliant Corp. has updated its PhoneValet software with new features including integration with iChat and Address Book, Panther compatibility and more. The new software is ready for download from Parliant’s Web site and is a free update for existing users.
PhoneValet is a USB hardware and Mac OS X-native software-based product that provides telephony integration for your Mac. It’s a multi-line capable system that lets your Mac keep track of your phone calls and can dial numbers for you. PhoneValet works with Caller ID service to tell you who’s calling and more.
The new version supports dialing numbers from directly within Apple’s Address Book software. It can also flag your iChat status with an “on the phone” mark when you’re talking to someone to let other iChat users know that you’re busy.
PhoneValet extends its capabilities with third-party applications using new AppleScript and Apple Events dialing support. What’s more, inbound calls can now trigger AppleScripts. The developer has included sample scripts and plug-ins that enable you to automate PhoneValet for use with FileMaker Pro-based applications and Microsoft Entourage.
A streamlined user interface and Panther compatibility round out the new features of this incremental release. Visit Parliant’s Web site for details. PhoneValet costs US$129.95 for a single-line version; multi-line support is available for $89.95 additionally per line.
