Memory maker Trans Intl. has announced that it’s shipping 1GB DDR memory upgrade modules designed to work in Apple’s recently released G4-based iBook.
The new memory modules are available for 800MHz, 933MHz and 1GHz iBook G4 models. The iBook has 128MB of RAM soldered onto its motherboard, and there’s one available memory slot. Apple documentation suggests that 640MB is the maximum available memory — with the addition of a 512MB memory module — Trans Intl. explained that with its 1GB module, G4 iBook users can boost their on-board RAM to a total of 1,152MB.
The module was designed to conform to Apple’s electrical and mechanical design guidelines, according to the manufacturer — the memory operates at a clock rate of 133MHz and transmits data at 266Mbps.
Trans Intl. sells the new 1GB DDR266 SDRAM DIMM module for the iBook G4 for US$449. Visit the Web site for details.
