Extensis Inc. and Now Software founder Craig Barnes has a new venture called You Software Inc. The company is poised to produce new productivity software applications for Mac OS X and plans to ship several titles within the next 90 days.
According to a statement from the company, the system enhancement utilities planned for release will add features and increase customization and control of Mac OS X. You Software’s titles will be delivered both as standalone products and as collections of utilities. What’s more, You Software plans to provide client/server based offerings as well.
Barnes is working with Extensis and Now Software alumni including Eric Hayes and Tim Brown to kick You Software’s development into high gear; he’s also hired software developer Paul Haddad, developer of MAC OS X software like PTHClock, PTHVolume and other tools.
The company is loath to discuss any specific product details just now, although You Software indicated it would combine internal, original software development with publishing arrangements and acquisitions from third parties. You Software noted that it has acquired the intellectual property developed by Haddad as PTH Software as well.
