Peachpit Press has unveiled the first of its seven Mac OS X 10.3 (“Panther”) titles with the release of Maria Langer’s “Mac OS X 10.3 Panther: Visual QuickStart Guide” (ISBN 0321213513). The US$24.99 offers task-based, step-by-step instructions and includes chapters on networking, security, Unix, the Classic environment, utilities, and system preferences.
Mac authors Scott Kelby and Robin Williams will also pen revisions for Peachpit’s Panther line-up. The former’s $29.99 “Mac OS X Panther Killer Tips” (ISBN 0735713936) is due for release in late December. Additionally, Kelby will write “The Mac OS X Conversion Kit: 9 to 10 Side by Side, Panther Edition” (ISBN 0735713898) slated for release in early January at a price tag of $29.99.
Robin Williams’ “Mac OS X Book, Panther Edition (ISBN 0321232968), also $29.99, is coming in mid-December. It covers Panther basics and covers such new and/or improved features as the Finder, Expose, iChat AV, and Safari’s enhanced Web access.
The rest of the Peachpit Panther line-up, on tap for early 2004, will include: “Mac OS X Hands-on-Training” (ISBN 0321241711, $44.99), “Mac OS X Server 10.3 Panther: Visual QuickPro Guide” (ISBN 0321242521, $24.99), and the update to Ted Landau’s troubleshooting guide, “Mac OS X Help Desk, Panther Edition” (ISBN 0321193873, $34.99).
